#TheReadingQuest TBR // readathon

We are now halfway through the #TomeTopple readathon (check out my latest updates here) and it's time to introduce the next reading challenge that I will be participating in: #TheReadingQuest!

#TheReadingQuest was designed by Aentee from Read At Midnight and will take place from this Sunday 13th August to Sunday 10th September. This challenge is based on a video game, where you must pick a character class and complete the relevant challenges to finish their quest line. You can even customise your own character card, complete with gorgeous illustrations by CW from Read, Think, Ponder!

Just like a video game, you level up by earning Experience Points (EXP) and Health Points (HP) for completing certain challenges. There will even be prizes at the end for the participants who reach the highest level! Now the points system is a tad complicated so I recommend you check out Aentee's original #TheReadingQuest Sign Up post if you're interested in finding out more. I've designed a nifty little spreadsheet to keep track of my points for me!

The challenges are set out beautifully on The Quest Board, with the main quest lines depicted around the outside of the board, and a number of optional Side Quests shown in the centre.

I have decided to start the quest as a Mage and will progress on to a Knight in the event that I complete the first path. The books that I will be reading for the Mage quest are

A Book With A One Word Title:

A Book That Contains Magic:

• Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

A Book Based On Mythology:

• The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater

A Book Set In A Different World:

• The Waking Land by Callie Bates

The First Book Of A Series:

• Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan (which is also counting towards #TomeTopple)

                    

Then, as part of the Knight quest, I will be tackling

A Book With A Verb In Its Title:

• When We Collided by Emery Lord

A Book With A Weapon On Its Cover:

• Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

A Book With A Red Cover:

• The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan

A Book That Has A TV/Movie Adaptation:

• How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
